Spectacular half-plate, hand tinted tintype of two beautiful sisters, both clearly ecstatic with their day in the studio. Obviously from a wealthier family, the women are dressed in the most fashionable styles of the day. The older sister on the left wears a wonderful layered gown with the sleeves and ruffles made of fabric with a small floral print. A lace collar accents the lovely daguerreian pin of her father that she wears at her neckline, and a unique flower ring adorns her index finger. On her right hand we see another ring which looks like a wedding band. Presenting a beautiful contrast to her older sibling, little sister wears a similar-style gown although the top is in overpainted black with black lace highlights at the bottom and a painted black line pattern on the ruffle. She wears a small pin on her white lace collar and what appears to be a daguerreian bracelet. Red highlights have been added to the women’s faces and hands. The image is housed in a later date frame that has a large loop at the top for hanging and a velvet back that has a pop-out stand that is a little loose. We have replaced the old glass just as it was presented originally. A stunning piece that will that you will surely enjoy daily!
